WINDALE MEN'S SHED MEMBERS VISIT LIGHTNING RIDGE MEN'S SHED
On 20,21 & 22 May 2011, members from the Windale Men's Shed together with members from the HVSCG traveled to Lightning Ridge to help celebrate the opening of the Lightning Ridge Men's Shed. The trip was organised by Liz MacDonald, Project Manager CatholicCare and included shedders from Windale, Maitland, Wangi Wangi, and Hawkins Village. In total approximately 38 people braved the cold and early morning and arrived at the Northern Highland Travel bus depot at Thornton around 6 30am.
DAY 1: Friday 20 May
6.30am Muster at Northern Highland Travel
9.30-10am Merriwa Morning tea
12.30-1.15pm Gilgandra Lunch
3.30-4.00pm Walgett Afternoon Tea
5pm Anticipated arrival time in Lightning Ridge
DAY 2: Saturday 21 May
7.00 - 8.30 Breakfast
8.30 -11.30 3 hour Guided tour of Lightning Ridge and opal fields with accredited guide-Black Opal Tours - includes morning tea. The tour will end at the Motel and everyone will have enough time to freshen up before the Official opening of the shed.
12.00 - 3.00 Official Opening of the Lightning Ridge Men’s Shed inc. lunch

Before dinner For those adventurous ones, an opportunity to go to Lightning Ridge Hot water spa- please pack your swimmers!!
An additional event was included to include a visit to the Black Queen, Outstanding Outback theatre… with a twist.

3.30-4.00pm Muswellbrook Afternoon Tea
We all arrived back at Thornton safely on Sunday afternoon full of praise for the great experience and wish the Lightning Ridge Men's Shed all the best in their future shedding ventures.
